2008 Eastern High School Women's TeamParaphrasing Charles Dickens, the EHS Campaigns have been 'the best of times and not so best of times'. In order for both squads to extend their seasons, they would have to find their best form. The Lady Eagles have rallied behind their experienced returning booters rolling to an impressive 9-4-1 record. Playing their usual schedule loaded with perennial powers, the team has battled virtually every game with impressive victories over Shelby County, Mercy, and Bardstown High. They continued to show their mettle with a scoreless draw against the Male Lady Bulldogs. Coach Lunja knows their best could be ahead of them. EHS has a young JV squad on the ladies side who continue to work hard and improve literally every day. Playing against some experienced squads has proved to be challenging, but very important as they prepare to take over the reins in upcoming years. Coach Jill Mozejko has focused on the process of getting these athletes ready to become key contributors to Varsity in the future. The Boys Varsity team has battled through some injuries and a demanding schedule. At 9-5-1 Coach Hawes has relied on his Seniors to show the way as he has mixed in Freshman and Sophomores. Juggling the lineup, he is seeking the combinations to peak for Districts. Quality wins over Russell, KCD, and rival Ballard has shown they have what it takes to repeat at Districts...its simply a matter of playing their game. The JV Boys under Coach Matt Gillum have worked as hard as any squad he has had. This is obvious as they continue to be undefeated. These young men will be key pieces of the Varsity puzzle next year and they have shown the future is bright.
