Welcome to the Eastern Eagles Soccer Website

Eagles District Champs!!!
Principal Sexton, Coach Hawes Lead the Celebration
Game 1 Mission: Beat Ballard Again
Led by their 6 Seniors, Eastern picked the right time to peak and play their best soccer. Coming into District play with an 8-6 record, the Eagles were perhaps overlooked. However, they had been on the short end of several close games and let eventual State Champion St. X late in that game. Coach Hawes and Coach Robb knew they were capable; they just were not sure what team would show up.
Would it be the boys who celebrated at Dairy Queen earlier in the year after defeating the Bruins at their own field? Luckily, our footballers were not fat and happy as perennial rival Ballard came for revenge. Although its not always the most friendly of rivalries, EHS definitely respects the skill and determination of the Bruins. Eastern scored to start off on a hustle play by Cody Covert. The Ballard Keeper made a great effort to keep it from crossing the line, but the Linesman was right on the goal line and quickly signaled a goal. Ballard came back to knot the score and the fans knew a battle was on. Both teams had chances to win in regulation, with our Eagles carrying the play to them. The overtime was tense until Ethan Oberhausen charged in aggressively on an attempted clear by the Bruin back line. Noticing the keeper was out took the shot and rejoiced with his teammates as it just cleared the keeper and went under the cross bar. Ballard still had time to force it to Penalty Kicks. The Boys held on and as the whistle sounded, the fans charged on the field surrounding Seniors Nik Hoar, Nick Jordan, Anthony LaRosa, Billy Moore, Cory Shauf, and Adam Stringer. Final Score:  Eastern 2   Ballard 1.

Game 2 Challenge:  Obtain Revenge against CAL

Ethan Races Downfield after Winning Goal    After pulling off an Overtime victory two days earlier, the Eagles could not relax as their next match was against CAL who had bested them 2-0 earlier in the year.  As Yogi Berra would say, "It was déjà vu all over again". Similar to the Ballard game, the Eagles carried the game to the Centurions but had nothing to show for it. CAL had a few chances but could not convert either. Our Footballers' endurance would be tested again as it went to extra time.
All year long the back line had done the dirty work, playing terrific defense with little fanfare. That's the nature of their job and they did it very well not seeking recognition. Eastern has a talented midfield and set of strikers who get the job done on the other end. However, when the Defense gets a chance to 'have a go', they get after it. Not satisfied with on District Overtime Game Winner, Ethan Oberhausen came through again with a shot that eluded the CAL Keeper. Desperately, CAL tried to equalize but to no avail. The Eagles would not let up and Adam Stringer scored a second goal which effectively ended CAL's chances. The final whistle came, the fans rushed the field, and the celebration began. Surrounded by the Varsity and fans, Principal Sexton proudly hoisted the District trophy. Final Score: Eastern 2 CAL 0.
